If you want to authenticate Jesse's handwriting, you should know that he has several different signatures depending on his age when he signed it. Complicating things further, Jesse is ambidextrious, and his signature is different depending on whether he's using his right or left hand.

Those long-time fans lucky enough to have a personally answered fan letter on lined paper from when he was younger, know that he then usually printed his name. For years, he answered every letter, and when he was a little older, he sometimes wrote in script, and he also sometimes printed just his first name. Later, when appearing before many fans, he developed a quicker signature so that he could give an autograph to everyone who wanted one.

We're grateful for the opinions, compliments, criticisms, and affections the letters express, and we know and appreciate the efforts, expenses, and expectations of Jesse's fans. Throughout his career, we have tried to answer most of his mail, and he has answered much of it himself, but now we can no longer offer that assurance. Jesse and the rest of us apologize for this, but we will do our best.
